A visit to Kusadasi, Turkey
On Friday, the 15th, we were in Kusadasi, Turkey. That trip took us on an excursion to Ephesus--even more remarkable than Delos. The ruins had the Roman influence, and we got some beautiful pictures. Upon return from the ruins, we were shown how Turkish rugs are made, and learned much about how to distinguish those of the best quality. After that, Foye went back to the ship and slept--seems he has picked up a nasty sinus head cold. I, however, was not about to miss the opportunity to visit Turkey, so I returned to stroll thru the shops and see more beautiful (and expensive) carpets, leather goods, and jewelry. The Turks are very aggressive salesmen, however, and offer tea, sweets, wine, and other enticements to get you browse in their shops, so it was best not to make eye contact when they approach you. |
